About Mike Ritt

I tell people that I am a writer trapped in the body of a Consumer Safety Inspector for the USDA. I love to spend my free time (ha-ha) reading and writing, and I write everything – stories, poems, essays, and shopping lists – it doesn't matter. I have been married to my redhead (Tami) for over twenty-five years now. Although we live in the mountains of western Montana, we are still die-hard Packer fans! I have been a Christian for over thirty years now, and each day seems like a brand new day, with more to learn about God and his word. What a wonderful journey this has become! Click the “Contact” button on the menu bar if you want to write me for any reason, whether it’s to know more about me or the glorious gospel of grace.

Did God Condone Slavery in the Bible?

“Doesn’t the Bible teach that it is alright to own slaves and to even sell our children into slavery?” An atheist friend of mine once posed this question to me, hoping, I believe, to demonstrate to me that Christians don’t … Continue reading

Christianity vs. Christmas

OK…time for a pop quiz. First question: True or false – According to the gospel of Luke, a multitude of angels appeared to the shepherds who were watching their flocks on the night that Jesus was born, and sang praises … Continue reading

An Atoothfairyist’s Tale: How To “Not Believe” In Something

I am an “a-tooth-fairyist.” That is to say that I do not believe in the Tooth Fairy. I have been an atoothfairyist for almost my entire life.  As an atoothfairyist, I hardly give the tooth fairy a second thought. As a … Continue reading

What’s In A Name?

I recently hosted an interaction on Twitter between myself and about a dozen people who claimed to be atheists, in which I asked the following question, “What do you think are the strongest and the weakest arguments for the existence … Continue reading

Revelation, Inspiration, Illumination…What’s The Difference?

The difference between revelation, inspiration, and illumination may seem to be a technical one; however, it is a very important one. Many Christians use these three words interchangeably. It is incumbent upon believers to understand how God makes himself known … Continue reading

Recovering from Spiritual Abuse: Fearing the Good

A large part of the recovery process after leaving a cult is learning to discern what things are good and what things are harmful. A spiritually abusive group will often take what is good and attach to it a negative … Continue reading

TEN WAYS IN WHICH IAA AND OTHER CULTS USE COERCIVE PERSUASION

Unhealthy churches, abusive churches, cults, etc., all use similar methods of indoctrination designed to eliminate individual thinking and foster dependence on the group or its leaders. Martin De Haan II, in How to Identify a Dangerous Religious Group, enumerates some … Continue reading
